Munich, September 14, 2011. SevenOne International, the ProSiebenSat.1 Group’s programming sales company, has further strengthened its position in the growing Central and Eastern European (CEE) television market by placing six formats in Ukraine.
Two of those six formats were sold recently and will debut on channel 1+1. These are the smash hit and Rose d’Or winner 2010 “Benidorm Bastards” and the comedy show “M!LF – Man Liberation Front.” A third format, “The Successor – The next Uri Geller,” debuted at the end of August 2011 on Ukraine’s STB.
Aside from these new sales, three other formats have already been produced and aired in Ukraine. The top-rated game show “My Man Can” was launched by 1+1. Germany’s favorite science-tainment magazine, “Galileo,” now also runs on channel K1. The comedy format “Kick the Pros” was broadcast on Inter.
“We are delighted that we could sell six formats in a television market as highly innovative, competitive and important as Ukraine,” said Axel Böhm, regional sales director, International Fiction Acquisition, SevenOne International. “No matter what channel or time slot, SevenOne International has the right format ready to go. Thanks to our diverse portfolio, we can reach the broadest possible audience in every television market.”
The Rose d’Or winning “Benidorm Bastards” (produced by SHELTER) is an outrageous hidden camera show that follows seven senior citizens whose mission is to roam the streets and blow the minds of as many young people as they can. International versions of the Benidorm Bastards include “Betty White’s Off Their Rockers” (NBC/US), “Off Their Rockers” (BBC/UK), “Old Ass Bastards” (ProSieben/Germany), “Pensionärsjävlar” (Kanal 5/Sweden), “Benidorm Bastards” (RTL 4/The Netherlands), “Rollator Banden” (SBS/Denmark), “Bingobanden” (TV Norge/Norway), “Batrani si Nelinistiti” (TV 2/Romania), and “JeulGeoUn In Seng” (tvN/South Korea).
Debuting on German broadcaster ProSieben in 1998, “Galileo” is a first-rate sciencetainment program that explains common, technical and scientific phenomena in an exciting, entertaining and understandable way. “Galileo” is adapted locally in numerous countries, including China (Shanghai DocuTV), Romania (Prima TV), Russia (CTC), Serbia (Prva TV), Spain (Nova) and France (TMC).
Kick the Pros
“Kick the Pros” (produced by Constantin Entertainment) pits a team of casted celebrities and regular soccer fans against the nation’s most successful, most loved and most hated club. Over six episodes, this show follows the formation of the team right up to their big match against the professionals.
My Man Can
In “My Man Can” (produced by Redseven Entertainment) four women gamble with their partners’ abilities—and put the men’s courage and skills to the test. The show has already been sold to various countries, including Belgium (VT 4), the Netherlands (SBS 6), Denmark (SBS), Spain, Italy, Portugal, France and Korea. “My Man Can” is also a smash hit in China, airing prime-time on Jiang Su Satellite Channel. In fact, the game show was the most successful foreign entertainment adaption in China in 2010.
In “Man! Liberation Front” (M!LF) (produced by SHELTER), two hosts explore playful and creative ways to allow men to return to their former masculine glory before “real men” become extinct. They send Superdaddy into the streets to re-educate “new men,” and each week launch a new initiative designed to assist men in their “process of liberation.”
