The eighth season of The Taste, produced by Redseven Entertainment for SAT.1 in Germany, ended on Wednesday, October 28 with strong ratings.
From the 16 amateur and professional chefs who took part in Season 8, only one could win. That was Lars, a 41-year-old private chef from Munich who has been around the world eight times cooking on cruise ships! He took home the €50,000 in prize money and a cookbook publishing deal.
The finale reached 1.3 million people (14-49 yrs), and overall the show scooped an 8.3% share.
The semi-final the week before proved a season record for the format, with a 9.7% market share and 1.42 million viewers in the 14-49 demographic, and 4.29m viewers (3+ years).
The season overall attracted 3.89m viewers 3+ years, and scored an average market share of 8.4% for 14-49 year olds – which is above both last year’s season and above the year-to-date channel average.
The new season saw model and author Angelina Kirsch take over presenting duties, alongside a panel of judges that includes newcomer, Austrian chef Alex Kumptner, and regular judges Alexander Herrmann, Tim Raue and Frank Rosin.
