Two new Red Arrow formats have been nominated in the Best New Format category at the Realscreen Awards 2019.

Buying Blind, created and produced by Kinetic Content for Bravo (US), and originally produced by Snowman Productions for TV Denmark, and Old People’s Home for 4 Year Olds, created and produced by CPL Productions for Channel 4 (UK), have both been nominated for Best New Format.

Also, Old People’s Home for 4 Year Olds has been nominated for a prestigious Diversity and Inclusion Award.

As previously announced, both shows are also up for other awards. Buying Blind has been nominated in the Lifestyle: Home (Design, Renovation) category, and Old People’s Home for 4 Year Olds has been nominated in the Reality: Constructed Reality category.

Buying Blind is a radical new reality format that sees a family who can’t decide what house to buy, put their life-savings in the hands of experts to purchase them a home – without ever having seen it! The show is currently playing on Bravo in the US, titled Buying It Blind and produced by Kinetic Content; and is in its second season on TV3 Denmark, produced by Snowman Productions. Red Arrow Studios International distributes the Buying Blind format worldwide, with local commissions including Nelonen in Finland, Nine Network in Australia, RTL Netherlands, and M6 France. The format has previously been nominated for a Rose d’Or Award.

Old People’s Home for 4 Year Olds is a revolutionary social experiment that attempts to dramatically improve the health and well-being of elderly people in retirement communities, by bringing them together with a group of four-year-old pre-school children. The show recently returned to Channel 4 for its second season, more than doubling Channel 4’s average daytime share. Red Arrow Studios International distributes the format worldwide, with local commissions including VOX Germany, Movistar+ Spain, and France, the Netherlands, Sweden and Australia. Previous award wins for the format include Best Constructed Documentary Series at the 2018 Grierson Awards, Factual TV Project of the Year at the 2018 Content Innovation Awards, Best Original Programme at the Broadcast Awards, Best Popular Factual Series at the 2018 Edinburgh TV Awards, and Best Factual Entertainment and Best Brand Driven Format at the International Format Awards. It was also nominated for a 2018 BAFTA award.

Other Red Arrow shows up for Realscreen Awards include Married at First Sight, Shot in the Dark, Wahlburgers and Man’s First Friend.

The Realscreen Awards, which recognize the best in unscripted and non-fiction programming from around the world, will be presented at a ceremony during Realscreen Summit in New Orleans on Tuesday January 29, 2019.
