London: 5 September 2019. Red Arrow Studios International has inked a deal with CBS for its hit scripted format Einstein. The US remake is now in development with Monk creator and executive producer Andy Breckman re-teaming with Monk’s director and executive producer Randy Zisk, for the procedural drama about a brilliant detective.

Written by Breckman, Einstein is based on a German series distributed by Red Arrow Studios International, and follows a whip-smart, smooth-talking and illegitimate descendant of Albert Einstein, who is recruited by the police for his skills at solving particularly complex cases.
The original series of Einstein was commissioned by Germany’s SAT.1 and produced by Zeitsprung Pictures. The show’s 3 seasons (32 x 45’) plus movie pilot star Tom Beck (Alarm for Cobra 11) as Felix, the great grandson of Albert Einstein, who is forced to work with the police to solve crimes using his brilliant but eccentric mind. Einstein has sold to over 100 territories including Spain and Portugal, and the scripted format is being adapted in Slovenia, Czech Republic and Slovakia. Red Arrow Studios International handles global sales of the format and finished tape.
Bo Stehmeier, President at Red Arrow Studios International, said: “Einstein has been a huge hit in its home territory and around the world. It’s great to see the format being developed for the US market by such talented and experienced partners, and we look forward to seeing how they bring the show to life for a domestic audience.”
In addition to the popular detective dramedy Monk, which ran on USA for eight seasons, Breckman recently created and executive produced The Good Cop, also directed and exec produced by Zisk, which ran on Netflix.
As the youngest professor to have ever taught theoretical physics at his university, Felix is a genius. However, life has its challenges: Felix is terminally ill with hereditary Huntington’s disease, and he faces a prison sentence when accused of stealing illicit stimulants to help manage his condition. He is saved from jail when the police recognize that his brilliance could help them solve some of their most complex cases and recruit him as a police consultant.
Partnered with strong, quick-witted detective Elena, Einstein sees the pair investigate a complex bank robbery which comes to light following the murder of a dog walker, the case of a suspected suicide, and uncover the truth behind the poisoning of a group of senior citizens – all using the intelligence and innovation Felix’s grandfather is famous for.
