Season Eight of Married at First Sight Australia has helped Nine achieve a record-breaking first quarter. The broadcaster posted a 30.1% network share for total people, and an even higher share for People 25-54 (33.6%) and People 16-39 (34.9%), with both results the second-highest the network has enjoyed in Q1 since OzTam ratings began 20 years ago.
Nine program director Hamish Turner said: “Across both the 9Network’s linear channels and 9Now, we have seen Married again capture the national conversation in a way no other Australian TV show does.”
Michael Stephenson, Nine’s Chief Sales Officer, added: “2021 has seen a phenomenal start to the TV ratings year for Nine. Again, Married at First Sight has been a cross platform juggernaut, delivering across linear TV and 9Now with all key demographics.”
In Australia, eight of the top ten rating programs of the quarter were episodes of Married at First Sight, with an average of almost two million viewers watching each episode across broadcast television and on 9Now. The hit dating show is also the No.1 catch up program in Australia. To date, over 520 million minutes of long form catch-up content has been streamed, times times bigger than its nearest competitor (The Amazing Race Australia)
The Married at First Sight format is created and produced by Snowman Productions for DR and distributed worldwide by Red Arrow Studios International. The show is one of the world’s most successful relationship formats, with productions in 30 countries.
