• Last week’s Season Finale ranks as Series High for Lifetime in Total Viewers
  • Season 10 and Season 11 will each feature 5 couples for first time in the US series’ history

Lifetime has put a ring on it and ordered two new supersized seasons of the hit series Married and First Sight, produced by Kinetic Content. Returning in 2020, Married at First Sight’s milestone 10th season will be two hours each night, as will Season 11, and – for the first time in history – each Season will feature five new couples who take the leap into matrimony without so much as knowing who they are to be wedded to.

Ranking as Lifetime’s top series for each of the past two years, last Wednesday’s Decision Day episode of Married at First Sight posted season highs with both A25-54 (992K) and W25-54 (772K) in L3.  With Total Viewers, the Season 9 finale was the best performing episode on a single network ever.  That night, Married at First fueled Lifetime to rank as cable’s #1 network in the time period with A25-54 and W25-54.  Overall MAFS S9 averaged 684k W25-54, up +10% from last summer’s S7 (622k) and up +2% from S8 (669k).  Season 9 was the strongest season of MAFS ever on a single network with both W25-54 (684k) and Total Viewers (1.7m).

Last Wednesday night, Married at First Sight not only spawned the country’s top twitter trend (#MarriedAtFirstSight), it simultaneously spawned 3 of the top 4 nationwide trends, as fans watched Deonna & Greg, and Jamie & Beth choose to stay married on Decision Day – while Iris & Keith and Amber & Matt chose to get a divorce.

Through 9 seasons, 29 sets of strangers have Married at First Sight and to date, 8 of those 29 couples are still married to this day, with 4 babies born so far, and at least one more on the way!

Married at First Sight S10 will take place in Washington, D.C., while MAFS S11 will be in New Orleans. Seventeen two-hour episodes have been ordered for each of Season 10 and 11 for the series.

“We’re thrilled to see Married at FirstSight achieve record ratings in its ninth season, with great things to come in 2020 as we expand the format even more.  It’s become destination viewing for Lifetime,” said Gena McCarthy, EVP and Head of Lifetime Unscripted.

Married at First Sight follows brave singles who marry a complete stranger in a daring social experiment.  Matched by experts, the singles become duos, agreeing to legally marry a stranger, and meeting for the first time at the altar. The series captures each couple’s journey as they go from wedding, to honeymoon, to early nesting, to the daily struggles of working on their marriage. After several weeks together, each couple must make a decision: do they remain together or decide to divorce?

Married at First Sight is produced by Kinetic Content. Executive producers for Married at First Sight are Chris Coelen, Eric Detwiler, Ally Simpson, Jason Sands and Kelly Montalvo from Kinetic Content and Gena McCarthy from Lifetime.

Red Arrow Studios International distributes the Married at First Sight format worldwide, and the show is now produced in more than 29 countries. The show was originally created by Snowman Productions.
