Keshet in Israel has commissioned a brand new production of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? from July August Productions.
Filming has started in Tel Aviv, in front of a live studio audience. The show premieres this Thursday July 16 at 9.15pm on Channel 12-KESHET.
The new season of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? (מי רוצה להיות מיליונר?) will be hosted by veteran Israeli television presenter Erez Tal, whose credits include hosting Wheel of Fortune, Big Brother and the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest in Tel Aviv.
The Executive Producer is Amit Stretiner, who is Managing Director of July August’s unscripted division. Stretiner said: “Thanks to Keshet, we are delighted to be bringing back this iconic quiz show to Israeli audiences. It hasn’t been on our TV screens since 2006, and it seems great timing to revisit a familiar classic that hasn’t lost any of its incredible TV power.”
Distributed by Sony Pictures Television Formats, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? has aired in over 120 countries and produced in over 80 languages. The show pits general knowledge against human nature, and is the ultimate test of concentration, strategic thinking and emotional endurance, as one contestant pushes through a series of multiple choice questions to earn increasing increments of cash.
July August is well-known in Israel and around the world for its quiz show output, with its production of The Chase now in its fourth season for KAN, and winner of the Israeli Television Academy Award for ‘Best game show’ for the last three years. They are also the creators of Still Standing – the most successful non-scripted Israeli format ever, with over 6,000 commissioned episodes globally.
Other July August shows currently on-air or in production include You Can’t Ask That; My Kitchen Rules; The Tree House Bunch, which won four awards at the 2020 Israeli Television Academy Awards; and comedy scripted series Checkout!, which was nominated for a 2019 International Emmy Award.
July August also produces 80 and 4, the Israeli version of award-winning format Old People’s Home for 4 Year Olds, for KAN. The format was originally produced by CPL Productions for Channel 4 in the UK, and is distributed by Red Arrow Studios International.
